Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede

Wolf Point · Roosevelt County

The Story

Wolf Point's July rodeo, which the town calls Montana's oldest. A wild horse race, parades, street dances, and the Catholic Hamburger Stand on Main Street.

Second weekend in July. A wild horse race, parish burgers on Main Street, and an all-class reunion timed to the whole thing.

The Wild Horse Stampede runs the second weekend in July and goes back to 1915. Wolf Point calls it Montana’s oldest rodeo and the granddaddy of Montana rodeos. The 2026 Stampede was the 103rd. Don’t try to do the math at the bar. As the town tells it, the whole thing started with cowhands riding wild broncs down Main Street on a hot July afternoon.

The 2025 Stampede ran July 9 to 12 at Marvin Brookman Stadium, named for the late local stockman. The lineup: a ranch rodeo, three nights of PRCA rodeo, parades, an all-class reunion, a carnival, street dances, a museum pancake breakfast, and the Catholic Hamburger Stand on Main Street. A few Lutherans help with the burgers. Nobody checks.

Tickets go on sale in late June. Come for the wild horse race, stay for a burger, and expect to run into somebody from high school.

Still Here.
