Old School Montana
Privacy
This is a starter privacy policy for Old School Montana. Have someone who does this for a living read it before you rely on it.
What we collect
If you send a memory, we keep your name, email, the text, the town and era if you gave them, and any photo you attached. The name you choose to show publicly is separate from the email. We don’t publish the email.
If you make an account, we keep the email and password (stored hashed), plus whatever you put on your profile: a display name, a town, a short bio.
If you join the Dispatch, we keep your email, an optional first name, and an optional town.
If you write through the contact form, we keep that message.
We store a hashed version of your IP address with submissions and reactions so we can slow down spam. We don’t keep the raw address for the public site.
Cookies
The site uses a session cookie so sign-in, forms, and reactions work, and a security cookie so forms can’t be forged by another site. That’s the necessary set.
If a tag manager is turned on later, the privacy note on this page should say so. It isn’t required for the site to run.
Submissions
Nothing you send goes public until a person approves it. Photos stay attached to the submission with whatever credit and permission note you gave us. We don’t assume we own a photograph because you uploaded it.
Accounts
Your account is for your own submissions and the places and stories you save. It isn’t a social network. Other people don’t get your email from it.
How long
We keep published stories and approved submissions as part of the archive. You can ask us to remove a personal memory or a photo. Email hello@oldschoolmt.com. We’ll take off anything we don’t have a separate reason to keep.
Unsubscribe links in the Dispatch actually unsubscribe you.
