Still Old School

Moose's Saloon

Kalispell, Montana · Since 1957

A quick remodel in 1957. Still sticking.

The Story

Kalispell's sawdust-floor saloon on North Main since 1957. Pizza, peanuts, and a gift shop next door called Moostly Moose's, because of course it is.

In 1957 Moose Miller took over his wife’s family business, which was then the Corral Bar. He and some friends gave it a quick remodel. What came out the other side had sawdust on the floor and a new name: Moose’s Saloon. Some remodels stick. This one is pushing seventy years.

Moose died in 1999, and his daughter Wallis carried the place forward. It hit 50 years as a Flathead fixture in 2007, and it still reads that way on Main Street.

Next door is Moostly Moose’s, the gift shop, for when you need proof you were there.

Wear boots you don’t mind getting sawdust on, and stop at Moostly Moose’s on the way out.

Why It's Still Old School

Sawdust, peanuts and North Main since 1957. Moose Miller's quick remodel with his friends stuck, and so did his name.
