Still Old School
Remington Bar
The sign has changed more often than the building.
The Story
Downtown Whitefish bar on Central Avenue since 1908. It was the Palm Hotel for a while and became the Remington in the late 1970s.
The Remington opened in 1908 in downtown Whitefish, and it’s one of the most historic bars on Central Avenue.
The name took a while to settle. The building reopened as the Palm Hotel in 1944, then took the Remington name in the late 1970s. Whitefish bars are like that: names layered on names. The sign has changed more than the building has.
The railroad town remade itself around it. The Remington outlasted the makeover.
What was it called when you first walked in? Tell us. If you knew it as the Palm, we especially want to hear from you.
