The City of Wolf Point says the Wild Horse Stampede has been held the second weekend in July since 1915, which makes it Montana’s oldest rodeo, and calls it the granddaddy of Montana rodeos. The city traces it to cowhands riding wild broncs down Main Street on a hot July afternoon.

The 2025 Stampede ran July 9 to 12 at Marvin Brookman Stadium, named for the late local stockman. The Northern Plains Independent listed a ranch rodeo, three nights of PRCA rodeo, parades, an all-class reunion, a carnival, street dances, a museum pancake breakfast, and the Catholic Hamburger Stand on Main Street. The city adds that a few Lutherans help with the burgers.

Tickets go on sale in late June. If you’re nearby, stop in and keep them busy.
