The Pollard Hotel

Still Old School Montana Original

Red Lodge brick hotel built in 1893 as the Spofford, renamed the Pollard in 1902, still taking guests on Broadway.

Broadway hotel since 1893. Coal-town brick that still rents rooms instead of going condo.

This place is still going.

Red Lodge’s first brick hotel went up in 1893 as the Spofford Hotel, according to the Pollard’s history page and Historic Montana. Thomas F. Pollard bought it in 1902, renamed it, and expanded the room count and public spaces. The hotel still operates on North Broadway.

The history page, framed as a letter from Pollard’s daughter Barbara, is frank about early-1900s lodge life and the family’s exit in the 1940s. What matters for visitors now is simpler: it is still a hotel in the middle of town, with a restaurant that recent listings show serving daytime meals.

If you are nearby, stop in and keep them busy.
