James Brewer built a bathhouse at these springs by 1872, with three bathrooms and a 12-by-12 plunge, according to the motel’s history. Baths were 75 cents, whiskey extra. He called the place Brewer’s Springs. Dr. William Parberry later bought it and renamed it White Sulphur Springs.

Gene Gudmundson, a chiropractor who grew up in Miles City, stayed at the motel while looking for a place to practice and bought it within a couple of months in 1988, he told KXLF. He and his wife Annie run it now. There are three pools between 100 and 105 degrees, motel rooms and cabins.

“We are open every day seven days a week, every day of the year, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.,” Annie Gudmundson told KXLF. “We drain our pools every single night.” If you’re nearby, stop in and keep them busy.
