The Judith Theatre opened on December 31, 1914, with a live show called The Dancer and the King, a travelogue and a comedy, according to Cinema Treasures. The first feature film, Les Miserables, played the next day. It has been in use on Main Street ever since.

The front is Beaux-Arts, tan stone and red brick, with the theater’s name inscribed under the cornice. A remodel in 2006 and 2007 split it into a twin and renamed it Judith Cinemas. That was the first big remodel since 1948.

Polson Theatres runs it now as Judith Cinema and posts current showtimes. It is one of the few places in Lewistown where you can still buy a ticket at a downtown box office.

If you’re nearby, stop in and keep them busy.
