Mark’s opened in June 1954. Its own history says founder Mart Phillips called it Mart’s In & Out, and the name changed to Mark’s in 1980 when Mark and Scott Black bought it and set about restoring it.

The menu has not wandered far: burgers dressed to order, fries, onion rings, tots, shakes and cones. The beef comes from Diamond N Meats and the ice cream is Wilcoxson’s, made in Livingston since 1914, according to the drive-in. Visit Montana mentions roller-skating carhops on summer weekends.

It runs on a baseball calendar, roughly April through October. In May 2025 KULR reported the opening of the 71st season, with the experienced crew training the new hires, which the owner said is how it has always worked. The drive-in says it has hired the children and grandchildren of people who worked there years ago.
