Kalispell Grand Hotel
Downtown Kalispell hotel opened in 1912, still the last of the old Main Street hotels taking overnight guests.
Main Street hotel since 1912. Original lobby bones, pressed-tin ceiling, and rooms that still rent by the night.
This place is still going.
The Kalispell Grand’s history page dates the hotel to 1912, when a three-story brick building by architect Marion Riffo opened to travelers willing to pay more for running water and door locks. The hotel says it was one of eight downtown hotels in early Kalispell and is the only one still operating.
A major renovation begun in 1989 converted bath-down-the-hall rooms into rooms with private baths, reopening to guests in 1991. The lobby still shows the oak stairway and pressed-tin ceiling the hotel highlights in its own telling.
It is a working downtown hotel, not a museum. If you are nearby, stop in and keep them busy.
