Haufbrau House
Bozeman dive bar near campus since 1961, still hosting open mics, bands, burgers, and carved tabletops.
Campus-corner dive since 1961. Carved tables, open mics, and the last of the old Barmuda Triangle energy.
This place is still going.
The Haufbrau opened in 1961 and still sits at South 8th and Main, close enough to campus that generations of Montana State students have treated it as orientation. A December 2024 Bozeman Magazine bar beat piece describes the same room people know: posters layered in the entry, names carved into tables, open mic nights early in the week, and louder bands on weekends.
Visit Montana and local listings keep it as an active bar. It is one of the remaining pieces of what locals used to call the Barmuda Triangle after other nearby bars closed.
It is not polished. That is the point. If you are nearby, stop in and keep them busy.
