Bernice's Bakery

Still Old School Montana Original

From-scratch Missoula bakery on South 3rd since 1978, with cakes, pastries, and a lunch counter.

Same bakery job since 1978: scratch baking, early hours, and a South 3rd address people still give as directions.

This place is still going.

Bernice’s has been baking in Missoula since 1978. The bakery’s own about page says so plainly, lists hours Monday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and puts the shop at 190 South 3rd Street. Owner Missy Kelleher is described there as the fourth female owner, keeping the standards that made the place a local stop while the town changed around it.

What you get is the usual bakery work done the long way: cakes, cupcakes, pies, pastries, and a lunch menu. It is the kind of counter people use on ordinary weekdays, not just for special orders.

Forty-plus years of continuous baking is enough to put it on this map. If you are nearby, stop in and keep them busy.
