Remember This? Eddie's Supper Club in Great Falls

Four generations of the Newman family served campfire steaks on the east side until June 2017.

Eddie’s Supper Club was the east-side special occasion for a lot of Great Falls families. You dressed for it. You ordered the steak. You stayed for the piano.

Great Falls Tribune coverage of the final days in June 2017 traced the business from Eddie and Pauline Newman through four generations. Eddie’s Deluxe Lounge and Drive-In opened in 1944 outside the city limits of the time, on the way toward what became Malmstrom country. A fire in August 1966 took the Deluxe building during fair week. The family rebuilt across the street and opened Eddie’s Supper Club in July 1967.

The Tribune piece is careful about the food people actually ordered: campfire steaks with a family marinade, Italian plates tied to longtime kitchen staff like Olanda Vangelesti, and a staff culture that kept people for decades. Celebrity name-drops appear in that reporting as customer memory, not as a reason the place mattered. The reason was ordinary: it was where Great Falls went when dinner was the plan.

Roadfood and later local blogs kept the listing alive as a closed landmark people still searched for. That search habit matters. Someone typing Eddie’s Supper Club in 2026 is usually looking for the room they remember, not a coupon. High school anniversaries, military families rotating through Malmstrom, and Sunday regulars all used the same parking lot for years.

The doors closed after a last Saturday gathering in June 2017. Later writing notes other concepts in related spaces; those are not Eddie’s. The supper club chapter ended with the Newman family’s goodbye and a parking lot full of people who wanted one more night in the room.
