Still Old School
Log Cabin Cafe
Save room for pie. That's an instruction.
The Story
Choteau cafe across from the Teton County courthouse, part of Main Avenue since the 1950s and known for pies the family makes from scratch.
The Log Cabin sits right in front of the Teton County courthouse in Choteau. It has been part of town since the 1950s, when it started out as The Drive In. Manager Gabrielle Rasmussen said her uncle bought the building in 1995, and she came on after college.
The family grew its own vegetables in summer and made the pies and soups from scratch. “My uncle David is the pie baker,” Rasmussen said. “He’s the pie master.” The ones she named were peanut butter cream and strawberry-rhubarb. On portions: “We don’t believe in anything small.”
In February 2025 there was a Valentine’s Day dinner on the calendar, so if you’re planning around a holiday, call ahead.
Come hungry and save room for pie. Both of those are instructions, not suggestions.
Why It's Still Old School
It started as The Drive In back in the 1950s. Pies by Uncle David, soups by mom, and portions from people who don't believe in anything small.
