Missoula Club
Warm beer, cold burgers. Allegedly.
The Story
The Mo Club: burgers off the grill and cold beer on West Main since 1890, under a neon sign Missoula still gives directions by.
The motto is "Warm Beer, Cold Burgers." Read it twice. Serving Missoula since 1890, and somewhere along the way everybody started calling it the Mo Club.
The Mo Club has been around since 1890, which is long enough to get away with a motto like warm beer, cold burgers. It’s a joke. Mostly.
Ordering is not complicated. Single, double, or triple. They ask about cheese. That’s the whole decision tree, and after 130 years of Missoula history nobody has seen a reason to add branches.
One bartender says the bar holds liquor license number one in the state, and that it’s been at this spot on Main Street since 1926. The neon out front has been photographed more times than anyone can count. Days are calm. Nights get loud. When the Grizzlies play, the place fills up.
The job never changed: grill burgers, pour beer, keep the lights on. Order a double, say yes to cheese, and decide for yourself about the motto.

On the corner of Higgins and Pine since 1883, and it doesn't close. Still pouring coffee and plating chicken fried steak with JJ's gravy long after downtown locks up.
