You're Old School Montana if... you watched the Mustangs from the old wooden stands at Cobb Field and felt every board
Montana in the 1980s
You probably remember more than you think.
Mall Saturdays, and towns that still felt far apart.
Old School Montana If...
You're Old School Montana if... the bar in your little town was also the town hall, the cafe, and the message board
You're Old School Montana if... you went to Rimrock Mall on Saturday because that's where everybody was
You're Old School Montana if... you remember exactly where you were the day they dropped the stack
You're Old School Montana if... the second weekend of July was spoken for before anybody printed a calendar
You're Old School Montana if... you bought school jeans and work boots at the same downtown store your folks did
You're Old School Montana if... you bought a ticket at a Main Street box office that was already selling them when your great-grandparents were kids
You're Old School Montana if... your first paycheck came from a burger window that only opened when the weather let it
You're Old School Montana if... spring didn't count until the drive-in west of town opened for the season
You're Old School Montana if... you knew which grocery would still cash a check without giving you a speech about it
You're Old School Montana if... you ate pizza on a sawdust floor and tracked peanuts all the way out onto Main Street
You're Old School Montana if... you grew up in a railroad town and still give directions by the depot

Remember This? The Merc, The Bon, and the Drugstore That Outlasted Both
The Missoula Mercantile sold wagons, groceries and furniture, then became The Bon, then Macy's. The lights went out in 2010. Somehow the old pharmacy corner made it.

Remember This? Buttrey's, the Grocery Store That Started a Radio Station
Buttrey's started as a little store in 1896, landed in Havre in 1902, put KFBB on the air in 1922, and turned into Albertsons in 1998. Some of us still give directions by it.

Remember This? Hart-Albin, Where Billings Wore Decent Shoes
Before Rimrock Mall settled the matter, Hart-Albin on Broadway was the downtown department store Billings put on decent shoes to visit.
